Adventures. Let’s Go!

(When it rains all day, I go urban hiking).

Stay green.

I love rain, nature, and New York City. Like the Kindereggs of my childhood, I got all three things this past Sunday. + A great walk in good company with @michaelcomeau.

In addition, I got to test if my Meindl Gore-Tex boots could still repel water.

These boots are a few of my favorite possessions (life is about simple pleasures for me).  To wade through a small river of water and keep your feet dry is the BEST feeling.

They are now more than 25 years and I don't plan to buy other boots in my lifetime.

When I was 21 and heading to New Zealand and Australia, I somehow thought it would be cheaper to purchase shoes when I arrived there. But, of course, all of the boots they had were expensive German quality boots. So, as a Danish guy, I purchased German boots with a hefty price increase compared to if I had purchased them back in Denmark.

However, these boots have carried me through the Franz Josef Glacier in New Zealand (which is sadly no longer accessible on foot, but now only via helicopter), and across Australia's Uluru, and the Overland Track in beautiful Tasmania.

Sunday, in front of Whole Foods in Harlem (No, I'll never ever set my feet in that store again), one pair of laces broke, and the second pair broke in Central Park when I was trying to re-tighten my boots' wet laces.

I'll forgive Meindl; 25 years for a pair of shoelaces is pretty solid quality.

Keep walking!
